One Family, One Roof
Updated: Jan 18, 2019
On Christmas Day, all of my children were home. No one was working. No one was at college. All of us were together under one roof. I couldn’t help but think, “This is the way it is supposed to be.”
As a church family we find ourselves in a similar situation. In 2016, when we purchased this building, we knew that we would have to approach this in phases. During Phase 1 we would be one church family in two buildings, worshiping at The Avenue and leading our children’s ministry at a leased space across the parking lot.
Now is the time for Phase 2. It’s time to bring our family together, under one roof. No longer will we have children in a separate building. No longer
will our guests have to grapple with the confusion
of navigating two buildings. No longer will we negotiate the safety hazard of families crossing
a busy parking lot.
We have a choice to make. We can’t be complacent. While our current two-building set-up is adequate, it doesn’t help us meet the needs of an ever-changing future. Our lease on our children’s ministry building will eventually expire. Our community will continue to grow and change. The population of Dallas County has grown by nearly 30%. Our church has grown by nearly 40% since we moved into The Avenue. We are at a crossroads. Together, we must move forward.
As we launch this Capital Campaign, The Avenue: Crossroads, I want to encourage you to prayerfully consider how you might be a part of this process. Look around and think, “Who isn’t here yet?” Ask yourself, “Who else needs to experience this vibrant community of disciple makers?” Then imagine them sitting next to you on Sunday morning, or in a Life Group or in a Life Transformation Group.
As a church family, we are at a Crossroads. Together, lets move into the next important phase of our journey along The Avenue.
